Daily Strength for Daily Needs: As Inspiring Collection of Spiritual Passages in Prose & Verse One for Every Day of the Year
Published in Hardcover by Smithmark Publishing (February, 1995)

Daily Doses of Strength
For a fresh dose of inspiration, this collection will do wonders for the soul. It's a great "pick-me-up," spiritually, but not only that, the selections are taken from some of the classic writers of prose and poetry in the Christian tradition. I sometimes use it to jot down thoughts I take from it and put it in my Bible. And it's amazing how the thought for the day matches what the challenge and/or problem may be.

A marvelous collection to inspire and propel to the heights of Divine Providence. Highly recommended!!!

wonderfully helpful,inspiring, positively addictive
Some people look forward to their first cup of coffee in the morning , and it is that kind of "I can't wait to read this morning's message" that I greet my book every day. It never fails to be a word in due season, encouraging, useful food for thought; simple messages to contemplate your entire day.Its a habit I am better off to keep.

Hey, is it okay for a man to review this?
Might seem silly for a man to review a book for women, but hey, we guys might be thinking of buying this for our significant other, so hopefully my opinion will be helpful. This is definitely the same superb quality as the other Daily Word books. The index giving topics ob both the meditations and the articles certainly is helpful. But what impresses me the most and causes me to recommend it as a gift for one you love is the articles by such as Betty White, Cheryl Landon, Jayne Meadows, Phyllis Diller and such. These articles are eimed to touch the sensitivities of women, as well as giving a unique support to women, an aid in helping the individual woman recognize her value to herself and to others.

Roll out of bed and read this.
After rolling out of bed in the morning this should be what you grab on your way to the coffee pot. "Daily Word for Women" is insightful and inspiring and will put you on a healthy path for the rest of the day. Passages are easy to read and easy to remember. Just what you need to get you through your hectic day.

Daily Word Prayer Journal: A Forty-Day Program to Awaken Your Soul
Published in Paperback by Berkley Pub Group (May, 1999)
Authors: Colleen Zuck, Janie Wright, and Elaine Meyer
Average review score:

Inspirational and self-creative
Forty is one of the important spiritual numbers...one you'll find several times in our Bible. And so a 40 day journal is symbolic. This journal has poems and devotions for each of the 40 days, but most importantly, it has space for your own thoughts with suggestions for journaling subjects if you don't already have your own planned. This is truly constuctive spirituality, and you will be rewarded for it, just through the journaling experience.

A great "pick-me-up" to start the day with!
This is a great little book. Being familiar with the Daily Word magazine and having read the book "Daily Word: Love, Inspiration, and Guidance for Everyone," I was excited to see this new prayer journal. It has a forty-day theme with poems, articles, inspirational messages, and a place to journal for each day. It has really given me a boost each day, and as I journal I found myself learning more about myself and my God. It doesn't focus on any one particular religion, but on the bond of spirituality that we all share. I highly recommend it!

Dancing Down the Hallway: Spiritual Reflections for the Every Day

Authors: Kelly A. Fryer and Timothy J. Ressmeyer

Life Changing
I am a mother of 4. I teach school. I am active in my community and my church. I am so excited to have a devotional that is once a week.. BUT lasts all week. I look forward to each Sunday night when I do my devotional. Each night I add something to it.. it is wonderful!

tantalizing questions to ponder
Kelly A Fryer applauds her publisher, Augsburg Fortress, for the willingness to "courageously move in new directions". Toward that end, Fryer shares spiritual reflections in minimalist text based on scripture, powerfully illustrates with charming childlike stick figures, and poses tantalizing questions to ponder as well as blank pages for journaling in response. This deceptively simple volume is a welcome addition to my library.

The Dash Diet for Hypertension: Lower Your Blood Pressure in 14 Days--Without Drugs
Published in Hardcover by Free Press (09 October, 2001)
Authors: Thomas J. Moore M.D., Thomas Moore, Njeri Karanja, Laura P. Svetkey, and Mark Jenkins
Average review score:

Too good to be true -- but it is true!
I ordered this book for three reasons: Since I taught a course in college-level nutrition, I am appalled at how terrible the diets of too many of us really are. Plus I am something of a fitness nut. Finally I am also a "foodie" who enjoys cooking and eating delicious "gourmet quality" meals that also incorporate first-rate nutrition.

This is the diet book that the USA has been waiting for but too few persons seem to know about it -- yet. It is scientifically accurate and the conclusions of the authors are sound. It is proof that eating for improved health and fitness need not be boring. Indeed, the day after I received the book, I prepared the mango/black bean salad to rave reviews and no leftovers.

The message is not new: We need to increase the fruits, veggies, and whole grain foods in our diet, and to decrease red meats, sodium, and sweets. Although the target audience is those with hypertension, nearly everyone can benefit from accepting the book's challenge to try the DASH diet for two weeks -- and for a lifetime. The fact that the authors go beyond the science and present imaginative, delicious recipes and menus is a definite strength of the book.

A salute to the authors for this timely book!

A scientifically proven method of reducing blood pressure
Dr. Thomas Moore's DASH Diet For Hypertension poses a drug-free, scientifically proven method of reducing blood pressure and is based on two large clinical trials documenting dietary approaches to controlling hypertension. A team of doctors explores how the DASH diet system works, from choices in fruits, vegetables and low-fat diary products to the right serving portion and the influence of exercise.

The Day and the Hour
Published in Paperback by Amer Vision Pr (June, 2000)
Authors: Francis Gumerlock, Francis X. Gumerlock, and James Talmage

END OF THE WORLD
THE END OF THE WORLD IS NEAR!
How many times have you heard a doomsayer in church or
a conspirist co-worker say this. I met an individual once
who was convinced that he could predict the "season" in
which Christ would return. "Season", because although you
could not nail down the exact time and day... you could
figure out the year and season. This was his thinking.
This book answers these people.
This book must be read before you try to figure out
the day and the hour.

Well Researched and Entertaining
Francis Gumerlock, a classmate of mine, has done a great job of research here. He chronicles the false interpretations of end-time prophecy throughout church history. You will learn about some of the most bizarre scoundrels and heretics in church history as well as some orthodox folks who were simply reading the Bible in light of world events rather than the opposite. Reading this book is a good way to get a jolt of humility in this day and age when prophecy books about a future antichrist run rampant (The Left Behind series, for instance). This is definitely one to add to your library -- I can think of no book like it.

Emerson and Peabody Review
My children (7-year old and 9-year old) really enjoyed this book. My 7-year old son absolutely loved this book. He read it every day for two weeks in a row. I purchased the book for him and he checked it out of his school library the same week. Adorable pictures. We cannot wait for the next one of the series!

A Day at Play with Emerson and peabody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This book got my attention becouse i have a son at the age of 5. So i am always looking for new books for us to read to getther. The art work in this book is great. As we were reading along in the book my son loved the part where peabody had fallen into the water pond he laughed and that was the first time he had laughed a reall laugh while reading a storey and we read everynight. I highly recamend this book to all you mothers, grandmothers, and teachers out there to read this to their children. It is a eye catcher and will get their attention. Day at Seagull Beach
Published in Library Binding by Turtleback Books Distributed by Demco Media (January, 1999)
Author: Karen Wallace
Average review score:

An educational visit to the seashore
"A Day at Seagull Beach," by Karen Wallace, describes a day in the life of a mated pair of seagulls. Directed towards beginning readers, this book combines an easy-to-read text with full color nature photography on every page.

As do the other volumes in this series, this book contains a "Picture Word List" at the end. This feature is basically a visual glossary that illustrates each vocabulary word ("pincer," "seaweed," "waves," etc.) with a photograph. This is a good feature that adds to the book's educational value.

We see the seagulls tending their nest and their eggs. Much of the book follows the male gull as he searches for food; we see him encounter a crab, a starfish, and other marine life. Overall, the combination of good photography and literacy aids make "A Day at Seagull Beach" a good choice for children.

Perfect for a day at the beach or just remembering
I got this book for my 3-year old niece about a week before her first plane ride and vacation to the beach. By our arrival in Miami Beach she could already point to the many seagulls and tell me that they were looking for food. The simple story and illustrations were a wonderful introduction to many of the things she encountered at the beach including the waves, shells, seaweed, sandcastles, and crabs (but as a Maryland native she already knows all about them - steamed with plenty of Old Bay seasoning, that is). Now weeks later, rereading the story brings back memories of her trip and lots of enjoyment. Highly educational and fun.

A Day at Sherri's Luv-N-Hugs Day Care (Luv-N-Hugs Day Care)

Review from Anna Boegeman
A Day at Sherri's Luz-N-Hugs Daycare book is WONDERFUL! My daughter received this book when she was 9 years old; she is now 11 years old and still loves reading it every night! She also has the Fire Drill Practice at Luv-N-Hugs Daycare that she has brought to her daycare at school and all the kids wanted a book of their own. Kids really like the creative pictures and the fun activities. It is great for the older kids as well as the younger ones. I highly recommend this book as well as the Fire Drill one.

A Day at Sherri's Luv and Hugs Daycare.
This is a fabulous book for preschoolers and younger. It is a typical day in a daycare with a loving daycare provider named Sherri. She is a teacher, mother, housekeeper, artist, cook, caretaker and much more. If a child is new to daycare this is a good way to break them in before they start. It is a very nice sized book with colorful artistic pages. There are good lessons in the story also. If they are in daycare it is a good present to give to your provider to read to the children. They never get tired of listening to it. My kids are 7,3, and 1 and all still love it. Wonderful gift for anyone with children ( and that includes grandparents also). Thanks for taking my review. You wont be sorry for buying it.
